Works in mice. However, whether it will works in humans depends on how
much like human Alzheimer's the mouse model of Alzheimer's is.

It's AZD0530. The article is mistaken.

Not much like humans at all. They express
amyloid beta at vastly higher levels than
ever seen in any human brain.

In an initial trial, no benefit was seen.

But another trial is underway. Maybe it
will show a benefit this time. It's
well-tolerated, so bumping up the dose
seems in order. Until you see toxicity,
no reason not to crank it up. (That one
case of possible toxicity, well who knows?
Maybe that guy ate a bad peanut or
something.)
