I believe high blood pressure, high blood sugar,
and a persistent dizziness are symptoms with the
same cause which appeared at about the same time
or even earlier in my mother. I don't know whether
these are generally recognized to be related
conditions by medical science.

It's not quite simple forgetfulness. It's impaired
ability to form new long-term memories, like
remembering in the afternoon what happened in the
morning or on the previous day. Remembering events
from 70 years ago is not much impaired at all.

As I understand things, a little forgetfulness is a normal part of
aging. It could be a sign of Alz. or it could just be normal aging. If
it seems to be more than just ordinary forgetfulness to you, you might
want to bring the person to a neurologist, who should have various
in-office tests that can make a better determination.

Looking back, I think the first sign in my family member was a loss of
ability to do simple arithmetic. At the time, we all thought it was
just a small stroke.
